Description
A species which originated from Virginia, USA brought to the UK in 1786. This variety has carmine-red flowers which contrast vividly against brightly variegated foliage.

Possible Situation
At home in dry gravel beds, rock gardens, banks, walls, bright borders or in a container with dwarf lavenders or Sedums.

Ideal Conditions
Prefers full sun, or partial shade with free-draining soil or compost.

Temperature Tolerance
A hardy plant which should survive normal winter conditions outside, especially if protected from the hardest frosts.
